Why Grotto Wellness Spa is Cape Town’s Best Kept Secret

Why Grotto Wellness Spa is Cape Town’s Best  Kept Secret

A spa visit is always a good idea whether you want to destress, relax or spoil yourself. After weeks of countless work commitments, deadlines, and travel, I decided to go for a spa session at the Grotto Wellness Spa at The Capital 15 On Orange, and I can safely say it is now one of my top three places to visit at least once a month. Besides having stunning treatments, a few things make me agree that Grotto Spa is one of the Mother City’s best-kept secrets.

Location

I believe in convenience when going to a spa, and Grotto Wellness Spa nailed that for me. Not only are they centrally located, but the spa is also so easy to find. The spa is at The Capital 15 On Orange, close to Cape Town CBD, Kloof Street, Gardens, Sea Point and Camps Bay. Even if one was driving from any suburb in Cape Town or even the airport, it’s a drive that is at least 20 or 25 minutes.

Another thing I love about the spa’s location is that it is underground, so even though you are in the city, the tranquillity of the space allows you to forget and fully relax.

A Stunning Sanctuary

The dictionary definition for Grotto is a small picturesque cave, especially an artificial one in a park or garden, and this is precisely what the Grotto Wellness Spa is. Its interior is stunning, from Obsidian Prelude Lounge, Grotto Spa Bar, Serenity Nests, a Reflection Heated Hydrotherapy Pool, a Polar Plunge Pool, Hand & Foot Oasis, Steam Retreat, Sauna Oasis, Mineral Mist Rasul. The interior is lit in a dark and moody way, allowing one to relax fully. Besides the treatment, my favourite part of the spa was the serene nests. You can sit there for hours just relaxing and even napping.Hydrotherapy Pool, a Polar Plunge Pool, Hand & Foot Oasis, Steam Retreat, Sauna Oasis, Mineral Mist Rasul. Treatments

Man being massaged by the lady at the spa

The spa offers four categories of treatments: skin treatments, grooming, massage therapy and body treatments. So, depending on your needs, you have so much to choose from. I had massage therapy to relax and destress my body, and I also had some grooming in the form of a stunning pedicure. Their skin treatments are bespoke and depend on what your skin needs. I am returning to do a body treatment, detoxifying and nourishing, invigorating both skin and spirit soon.

Grotto Wellness Spa also has unique men’s grooming with tailored facial treatments designed exclusively for male skin.

Refreshments

So, if anyone knows me, I am a big eater, and Grotto Wellness Spa caters to my pallet; unlike some spas with limited food and drink offerings, they have fantastic light and heavy meal combos. After my treatment, I had ribs, salad and Hennessy at the Grotto Spa Bar. The bar has a great variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You can chill and relax at the bar while your partner gets treatment.

Super convenient times

The spa opens Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm, so even if you are working, you can still go to the spa after work. It also has night spa packages booked in advance, from 5 pm to 10 pm. This can allow you to enjoy your spa experience during off-peak traffic hours and fully relax. My favourite offering from the spa is the Grotto Spa Serene Escape, Bed & Breakfast at the Capital 15 On Orange paired with a spa treatment.

Verdict

It’s a place I recommend you try out now. Whether you are from Cape Town or visiting, this is a place you need to go to rest after a long year. We all have that year-end fatigue, and after a visit to Grotto Wellness Spa, I know you will feel better.
